Sharp as a tack!

We all want to be tack sharp, but we are also hesitant to over-sharpen. After all, at this time of the year, the only halos you want are on the angels! At the Colorado Conference I was blown over by how much sharpening I was told to do...OK, so I am still hesitant, but for you bold ones out there I have some tricks to play with. And the neat thing is it works-so you might be tacking this up on your bulletin board!

DECEMBER MEETING OF PHOTOSHOP CS SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP - Thursday, Dec. 1st. Photo club, 12:30- 2pm

Also....what DO you do with all those pictures that you have left over when you bracketed? Do you do HDR? how about the ones that are not quite HDR?    masks? give them away as cheep Christmas gifts? recycle? Curious cs members want to know! You don't delete them do you!!!

Reading this post, and got all your shopping done Cyber Monday?  Then come join us!

We're Back! and trick and treats are in store for November

Our first meeting this past Wednesday was great..so nice to see each other again, and if you missed it, well, we are just getting started, so come next month, November 3rd, 123:30 to 2pm.
having just come back from the Colorado PSA Conference, and a class in CS I took there, I shared what I learned about color ...using the info window to get samples, and rgb and lab to figure out color casts, with curves to fix them...

I got an enthusiastic response to have me share a few other tricks I learned, especially Luminosity masks... So just a few days after Holloween, we will have tricks and treats with Masks! Hope to see you there!

Cool weather is coming!

Well, maybe not right away, but before you know it, October will be here and we will meet again to share our tricks and knowledge. I am off to PSA conference in Colorado, and doing some photo shoots and even classes. I hope to be back the first of October with lots of new info! In the meantime..as you get a gem of info yourself...jot it down to share with us!

Next Meeting...CS SIG this coming Thursday!

The 7 point system that Scott Kelby made famous a couple of years ago has been revised for CS5.  He goes through a sort of checklist of things to do to get a picture where you want it when you don't know where to start.   I was impressed with it when he had it for CS3, and even more so now, as it is much more simple to work with.  so... after watching it on Kelby Training, I want to share it with you.  Elisa will not be able to make it due to a commitment, but I hope you do because:

Joyce's 7 steps why to coming to the meeting:
1. It stops you from staring aimlessly at the screen saying "thats so blah!"
2. Gives your life direction.
3.  Easy to follow steps
4.  Works only in Camera Raw or Lightroom except for a few finishing touches
5.  No 20 step fancy shmancy stuff.
6. Shows you the stuff you really have to know instead of the once a year stuff.
7.  It is probably going to be our last meeting until fall...

I will work on a handout and post it when I can.  In the meantime...take a bad (but in focus) raw file to tag along if  you want to try it out.  Ok...I know you never take a bad picture...but try!

Our First CS SIG Post and our Upcoming Meeting

Elisa and I have some surprises for you this month.  And I am really excited about a give-away I am going to do of free templates from on-one for you to have fun with.  Just found them today and I can't get off the computer as I am having too much fun.

Also a Scott Kelby trick of turning  a filter into a brush into a warp image into a background element and brush element of a layout.  also a panorama trick.

For you purist out there...(no fancy shmancy stuff for me),  Elisa will do a RAW workflow.   Hope we got your interest perked!

ALSO I want to discuss what we can do in connection with the club web site!

Whew...you may want to come with your computers to play too!  Joyce
