Photoshop CS is now CS etc.
Eleven of our Sig members came together to brainstorm what direction we want our sig to go. Out of the 11, five work in Elements, eight work in Photoshop 5 or 6, and Six work in Lightroom. So obviusly, there is a lot of crossing over.
On top of that, there is one aperture user, four Nik users, 2 professional portrait users, and three topaz users. If anything, we are diversified!
So we worked out a schedule, with just a few holes in it, to touch on the interests and needs of our members. Some of us will want to learn more about the programs we have, others will want to explore the programs available to see what direction they want to go.
Our schedule for the year is as follows:
Dec 6th: MartySchwerin-Photo matrix HDR
January, no meeting
Feb 7th, Joyce Seddon, Working with Nik Color Effex 4
March 7th Dik Salsbury-Color Range, Refine Edge, Multiple Selection tools
April 4th: Available
May 2nd: Stan Bormann- TBA
June Elise Morris: Light room Cropping and overview
July-Sept no meeting
Oct 10 Shirley Bormann- TBA
I am so proud of our group for getting so organized! There are still chairs available in the Sig meetings so come join our group! The more the merrier!
I will let you know if Elements can be used with it or if it is only Photoshop.
For Example, For our December meeting, Photomatrix works with Lightroom, and Aperature. It is also a filter plug in for CS2 or higher. AND it is a "stand alone" meaning you don't need to start with an Adobe product like Elements, Lightroom or CS first, so everyone should be interested.
Have a great Thanksgiving! and see you in December!

Photoshop Sig is Changing into something NEW
Many of our members, although they love Photoshop, are spending more and more time in other software...software that is available to Element Users as well, such as Nik, On-One, Topaz, Aperture,
There is a lot of interest in the software out there to help
us edit and develop our pictures. With
the increase interest in third-party development plug-ins, we are going to
redefine the Photoshop sig into a brand new Sig. It will be one that focuses on
these Plug-ins such as Nik, OnOne, and Topaz Software and how they relate to
the Adobe products of Elements and CS as well as Aperture, and IPhoto. Certainly there is something here for
everybody!
The first number of meetings we will be reviewing the programs
available so if you ever wanted to evaluate some of them for your own use, this
is a good time! The new Sig… Beyond
Adobe, the new Creative tools, will meet
the first Thursday of the month, from 12:30 to 2pm. We will meet in November and December. All members are welcomed with enthusiasm!
For information, email Joyce Seddon, facilitator at Joyce.mike@cox.net. Please put the word Sig in the subject line
to be sure I spot it!

We had a great meeting with a lot of keen (am I dating myself) tips. Howard will facilitate the Feb meeting (Ground Hog Day) so we'll have to work on some tip to emphasize shadows! Whatever Howard has up his sleeve, it will be fun and rewarding for all. I am playing around with trying to add the notes I gave out as an attachment, Wish me luck! Joyce tips for Photoshop

Sharp as a tack!
We all want to be tack sharp, but we are also hesitant to over-sharpen. After all, at this time of the year, the only halos you want are on the angels! At the Colorado Conference I was blown over by how much sharpening I was told to do...OK, so I am still hesitant, but for you bold ones out there I have some tricks to play with. And the neat thing is it works-so you might be tacking this up on your bulletin board!
DECEMBER MEETING OF PHOTOSHOP CS SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP - Thursday, Dec. 1st. Photo club, 12:30- 2pm
Also....what DO you do with all those pictures that you have left over when you bracketed? Do you do HDR? how about the ones that are not quite HDR? masks? give them away as cheep Christmas gifts? recycle? Curious cs members want to know! You don't delete them do you!!!
Reading this post, and got all your shopping done Cyber Monday? Then come join us!

We're Back! and trick and treats are in store for November
Our first meeting this past Wednesday was great..so nice to see each other again, and if you missed it, well, we are just getting started, so come next month, November 3rd, 123:30 to 2pm.
having just come back from the Colorado PSA Conference, and a class in CS I took there, I shared what I learned about color ...using the info window to get samples, and rgb and lab to figure out color casts, with curves to fix them...
I got an enthusiastic response to have me share a few other tricks I learned, especially Luminosity masks... So just a few days after Holloween, we will have tricks and treats with Masks! Hope to see you there!
